PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
for March 2006

Memphis Chapter President
A couple of years ago President Richardson chose “Life Balance” as the theme for her presidency. Since our membership and board are on the road to taking our chapter to the highest level ever, it seems to be an excellent time to remind us of how important balance is in our lives. Women are famous for having lots of balls in the air at the same time, and women of today are over the top on this one.

The development article this month is a very good guide to help us get it together and show us how to answer the bell when it rings. Not everyone has the same needs or the same solutions to address balance in their life. We have to be creative in preserving who we are and what we do so not to burn out.

What we do in the Memphis chapter is directed toward helping others and doing as much as we can in our community to make a difference. And, it goes without saying; we do one heck of a good job. Our chapter is special because the majority of our members come to a meeting or special event focused on success and you always achieve what you focus on.

We have members with great vision for the future of our chapter, and we have members that are the foundation of our chapter because of their longevity in EWI. We have the best of the best.

Our members share a passion for harmony and peace with each other. Attending a Memphis chapter meeting is like going to a family reunion each month. We are glad to see each other, glad to get that welcoming smile and hug, glad to know we are going to have fun, and glad to know burdens will be lifted when we share good fellowship with each other.

We all have busy professional lives. Some have families, some have elderly parents to care for, some run their own businesses, some have done it all and enjoy not having to do it anymore! But, we all need balance in our lives to be what we need to be to ourselves personally. EWI can be the recipe for balance in your life. We work hard and play hard, and we achieve a lot. Weigh the satisfaction you take home after you attended a chapter meeting, after you gave someone that little bit of encouragement they needed, participated in the meeting, volunteered to chair a committee, or you got the final bid on a great silent auction item. You can also carry home a smile, a good memory, and hope for tomorrow that you will reach all your goals.

So look at being a busy member of EWI as a positive. Look at it as something that is building character and giving you the ability to set clearly defined goals and make choices that are beneficial to you.
