Here we are in the midst of a hot summer in Memphis! We are looking forward to a great meeting at our member firm Rhodes College on July 19, 2007. We can count on feeling at the “center of learning” every time we visit this beautiful campus. Judy Bell, from the Memphis Area Teachers’ Credit Union will be our speaker with the topic, “Ethics, Values and Integrity.” Ms. Bell spoke at our Spring Conference last year and we know that she will bring a topic of interest and significance to us again this year.
We also look forward to an event that we anticipate each year that will occur at our July chapter meeting. Our Representative of the Year will be announced. This is a wonderful opportunity for one of our own representatives to have the opportunity to attend the Leadership Conference and Annual Meeting, which will be held in Houston, Texas this September.
Speaking of LCAM, we are so pleased that the Memphis Chapter will be sending three delegates to LCAM this year. Installing our 51st member firm in June enables us to send a third delegate. This validates the importance of our local membership activities and I want to commend Katie Hart and her committee for the hard work in this key role.
I want to thank Joyce Burti and the Sustainers for the donation of the quilt. They were able to raise $145 for our BCDP account and create a lot of fun in the process.
Let’s not forget our annual Golf Tournament, scheduled for Saturday, September 8, 2007. Peachie Bailey and her committee of dedicated individuals have been hard at work getting commitments for tee signs, teams, door prizes, goodie bag items, etc. This committee has met each month since March and has had great success thus far. I ask that each representative commit to talking to everyone you know to participate in whatever way they can. Your Board has purchased a tee sign, members have banded together to purchase tee signs, and money is still needed for bottled water and other special needs of the tournament. I ask that each of us do what you can to add to the effort of making this a great tournament.
Finally, I want to take the opportunity to ask each of you to think how much EWI means to you on a personal level. Having this group of individuals as friends and mentors is a great source of strength that is invaluable. We work together and support each other which enable us to do things beyond that which we can do alone.
See you at Rhodes!
