From the moment I walked in the room last Thursday afternoon, I KNEW it was going to be a magical evening. Menus and programs were being placed on each elegantly decorated table, the beautiful cake was getting its fresh flower topper, the name tags and 50th Anniversary gifts were being organized, the ice sculpture was being delivered……all we needed were our wonderful chapter representatives and guests. It didn’t take long for the reception rooms to fill with hugs, laughter and chatter as scrapbooks were revisited and old friends reunited. Our celebration had begun!
We had the pleasure of hosting our EWI Corporate President Wendy Cowley, many past chapter presidents and former members along with several executives and out of town chapter guests. A champagne toast was enjoyed by all. We honored our past leadership both at the chapter and corporate level. We listened with deep admiration and respect as our guest speakers, Betty Loveless, Wendy Cowley and Peggy Quinn spoke to the “past, present and future” of the chapter and of the organization as a whole. Camera flashes brightened the room all evening. The beautiful yellow rose centerpieces were given to unsuspecting guests at each table. Yes, the ‘magic of EWI” will live on another 50 years…..
As the holidays quickly approach, I am reminded of an email that probably many of you have seen at some point. It is entitled “May Your Holidays be Blessed”. (See below----). We take so much for granted in our lives – this passage reminds us of how blessed we truly are. I personally wish each of you and your family a blessed holiday season, filled with love and gratitude for all that the Lord has given us.
Happy Holidays!
Carol Whitfield
May Your Holidays be Blessed
If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep……you are richer than 75% of this world
If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish somewhere…… you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness……you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation……you are ahead of 500 million people in the world
If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death……you are more blessed than three billion people in the world
If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful……you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not
If you can hold someone’s hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder……you are blessed because you can offer healing touch
If you can read this message……you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all
Have a good holiday, count your blessings, and pass this along to remind someone else how blessed we all are!
