Here comes 2008, whether we are ready or not! Hope all of you enjoyed time off with your family over the holidays. We hosted a new “guest” this year – Peanut, my daughter’s English bulldog puppy! That was definitely an experience for me!!!

I hope all of you enjoyed the Silent Auction and Chapter meeting at Windyke Country Club. The meal was delicious and we were entertained by some wonderful harmonies! We again extend our thanks to Keith Therrell and the Memphis Cotton Boll Chorus for bringing us holiday cheer!

Thanks to Patricia Barnett and her Ways and Means Committee, the auction proceeds exceeded $3000. The hot item of the evening (the David Yurman bracelet) was won by Beth Washington. Many thanks again to Martha Vanzant and Mednikow Jewelers for their generous donation.

With a new year comes annual dues renewals. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate each one of you. We (all 52 member firms) are EWI Memphis. It takes all of us working together as a team to accomplish great things. I hope that each of you finds value in your membership. If I asked, I probably would get many different answers and many identical answers – professional and personal development, leadership skills and opportunities, networking and business awareness, community involvement thru literacy programs and local scholarships. There is a “niche” for everyone. I believe value of membership is directly related to level of participation – get more involved in 2008 to maximize the value of your firm’s membership.
