PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
for July 2008

Memphis Chapter President
Tears of relief – a huge financial burden eased...
Tears of happiness – realizing they were a winner...
Tears of accomplishment – many long hours of study...

There wasn’t a dry eye in the room for those listening to Thomas Leggett humbly accept our 2008 ASIST scholarship at the June Chapter meeting at The University Club!! Samantha Young was equally grateful as our second ASIST winner. There’s no better sense of accomplishment for our chapter than awarding our scholarships. Please extend your thanks to Melinda Edwards and her BCDP committee for a job well done. A special thank you to our judges, Mary Dando (USPS), Jane Lettes and Margaret Ware. These ladies had the overwhelming task of reading and evaluating a record number (22) of applications. Our chapter is so grateful for their time and effort in selecting our winners! Last year’s winner and guest speaker, Deborah Segerson, was an inspiration to Thomas and Samantha as she acknowledged her appreciation for the scholarship she received. She was so grateful for the financial support which enabled her to spend more time with her family and devote more energy to her studies. In turn, when she graduates, she will go administer to others in her community.

CONNECTIONS -CAREERS – COMMUNITIES!

I would like to ask each and every one of you to help us with the 2008 EWI Golf Tournament. There are MANY ways to provide support:
  • Recruit a team
  • Purchase a tee sign
  • Donate a door prize
  • Donate beverages
Details on all aspects of the golf tournament can be found on this site. Additional info is provided in this edition of the PULSE

P.S. The wedding was absolutely perfect! My daughter was a beautiful bride and my new son-in-law called me “mom” for the first time Saturday night. They are enjoying the sun and sand in Aruba!
